About Rainbows

Rainbows is an award winning Paint-Your-Own Pottery Studio situated in the heart of the beautiful historic City of York. We offer a fun and relaxing environment for people of all ages to come and express their creativity. We don't take bookings (unless you're a group of 6+) so please just pop along. We also offer a Paint at Home Pottery option if you prefer to paint in the comfort of your own home. Please click on our Shop for more info and to order.

We have a large selection of ceramics, vibrant paint colours and all the tools you need to help you create your own unique work of art.

Once finished your item will then be ready to collect in 1 week after it has been glazed and fired. If you are visiting York we can post your item to you or we can hold it for as long as you need until you can collect. Alternatively you are welcome to paint in our range of fun, bright acrylics and take your item away the same day.

What It Costs

Ceramic items start from £10.00. Please note we no longer have a studio fee. The price you see is what you pay. We stock a large range of ceramics for adults and children including plates, bowls, mugs, teapots, vases and piggy banks. Check out our gallery to see what our customers have painted!

Please note we are walk ins only except for group bookings / party bookings of 6+ painters on our allocated party table.

You can find us on the corner of Bootham and Gillygate, just outside Bootham Bar. On foot we are 2 minutes walk from the Minster and 5 minutes walk from the train station. If you are driving, Bootham Row pay and display car park is 2 minutes away in the next street. The nearest Park & Ride is Rawcliffe Bar.
