About Rainbows

shop front Rainbows is an award winning Paint-Your-Own Pottery Studio situated in the heart of the beautiful historic City of York. We offer a fun and relaxing environment for people of all ages to come and express their creativity.

We have a large selection of ceramics, vibrant paint colours and all the tools you need to help you create your own unique work of art.

We only take bookings for groups of 6+ or parties, otherwise please just turn up and feel free to stay for as long as you like. We have a selection of hot & cold drinks and snacks.

Once finished your item will then be ready to collect in 1 week after it has been glazed and fired. If you are visiting York we can post your item to you or we can hold it for as long as you need until you can collect. We will always do our best to fire your item quicker if requested. Alternatively you are welcome to paint in our range of fun, bright acrylics and take your item away the same day. We have lots of decorative items like princesses, fairies and animals which are perfect for this process and you still have all the painting fun.

What It Costs

Ceramic items start from £6.00. We stock a large range of ceramics for adults and children including plates, bowls, mugs, teapots, vases and piggy banks. Check out our gallery to see what our customers have painted!

In addition to the cost of the ceramic item, there is a studio fee of £4.00 per painter. The studio fee covers your studio session, use of all paint and studio materials plus glazing & firing. Each person may paint as many pieces as they like for one studio fee per visit. We do not charge by the hour and you are welcome to stay as long as you like during opening hours.

    You can find us on the corner of Bootham and Gillygate, just outside Bootham Bar. On foot we are 2 minutes walk from the Minster and 5 minutes walk from the train station. If you are driving, Bootham Row pay and display car park is 2 minutes away in the next street. The nearest Park & Ride is Rawcliffe Bar.     map link
